About Acadin
ACADIN was born out of a love for animals that has been close to the heart of its founder, Ellen Biesheuvel, for years. Ellen’s first dog gave her great joy and peacefulness, but her doctor advised against it because of her allergy induced asthma. Witnessing the kindness of the people who adopted the dog inspired her to adopt many rescue dogs later in life.
A childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian never materialized, but her passion for animal rescue led her to start ACADIN, a non-profit organisation that supports and enhances the lives of cats and dogs in Africa and other parts of the world. ACADIN’s first donation was to SPCA in 2018, and since then, they have made various contributions to established organisations and lesser-known caring individuals.
Their donations have included the cost of five kennel boxes yearly to SPCA, a contribution towards a new ambulance for TEARS and a microscope for their laboratory more recently. Their love for animals led them to visit Shaygam Newman, a well-known animal care giver in Hangberg area in Hout Bay. He is the go-to person in his area for animals in need. They have donated to support his rescue operations and even adopted one of the dogs in his care.
Ellen’s passion for giving back is growing stronger everyday and ACADIN is her way of making a meaningful impact by organising fundraisers for causes relating to cats and dogs.

Our commitment to advancing animal welfare goes beyond direct care, evident in their contribution to TEARS, which involved acquiring a microscope for their laboratory and funding a new ambulance. Animal Lifeline
Animal Lifeline is focussed on prevention of suffering through sterilisation of cats and dogs in destitute and under-resourced communities. Animal Lifeline has no staff and pays no salaries. We have no premesis. Animal Lifeline is volunteer run and led by passionate individuals with one goal which is to improve the circumstances of pets in low-income communities and to help owners support their precious pets.
We sterilise for free and treat pets for parasite and vaccinate at no charge to our beneficiaries. We also run a supplemental feeding programme to help owners support their sterilised pets. We raise our funds by encouraging supporters to donate their gently-used goods which we sell to raise funds to cover preventative veterinary and parasite treatment.
It’s our goal to raise sufficient funds to buy a Suzuki Ecco, Volkswagen Caddy or similar vehicle which we can use as a mobile clinic in support of our outreach initiatives

June Bradbury's Cat Trapping and Sterilization Network
The sterilisation of feral and stray cats. Cats are returned to their colonies or the environment in which they have been trapped or picked up. Feral kittens are trapped, sterilised and returned, tame kittens are removed, bathed, dewormed and homed.

DARG - Hout Bay
Situated on a large plot in Hout Bay, Western Cape, DARG provides shelter for its rescues through housing an extensive cat garden, cat sanctuary, outdoor and indoor kennel areas as well as indoor rooms for those animals in treatment or rehabilitation.
DARG relies on the public’s generosity and support through donations.

Feral Cat Project Cape Town
The Feral Cat Project was founded in 2012 by Brenda Kerr. Since 2012, approximately 21 000 cats have been sterilised. Brenda was introduced to the ‘world of rescue’ in 2004 at a cat show. Soon after, she was asked to trap a mommy and kittens at a school nearby. They were fed for 13 years.
A team grew as more cats needed assistance. To trap cats, there needs to be a feeding program in place first. The main focus of the Feral Cat Project is Trap−Neuter−Return (TNR).
